It’s an awesome concept where needy families on the Habitat for Humanity wait list are given the opportunity to help out others by doing charity work both home and abroad and as a pay-off they receive their own low-mortgage home!
Really uplifting stuff that helps restore your faith in the world!
So it’s been a while since I’ve updated by the looks of things!
Time has been flying for MONTHS now and that’s mostly because of a little show called My RONA Home
I can only hope you’ve all been catching it on City TV!!
If not click the link above and catch up ready to watch the last three shows starting this weekend!
It’s a great show and I’m rooting for both teams to win! Can you imagine winning an entire home mortgage free? What an amazing gift..! Good luck guys!
As well as performing SUPERHERO STYLE assistant duties I’ve also found time to do some editing for the show including the Energy Star sponsor spots. Ace!
Also since the last update I did some work on Brad Pattison’s new dog training show PUPPY SOS on Slice which has lots of lovely (if sometimes unruly) little puppies – check it out!
Aside from that work is still ongoing on Wounds..! Looking forward to the day job dying down a bit so we can wrap her up! It looks awesome!
I’ve also done a little helping out here and there on Burlesque Assassins. Although RONA has kept me too busy to be the lead assistant as originally planned I still get to sneak a peek every now and then and I gotta tell ya you’ve gotta see this one! Too fun!
I’ve also edited quite a bit for various corporate clients including this fun little video we put together for the town of Devon
CONGRATULATIONS to all the AFTA nominees! It’s fantastic to see so many of my friends and colleagues, not to mention projects I’ve had the pleasure of working on getting some recognition!
I’ve been lucky enough to be editing together the nominee reels for the awards so I’ve been watching clips of the best of our province for the past few weeks. Truly awesome stuff! Good luck on Saturday!
Oh and if you’re attending the awards play close attention to Alberta Film’s look back at 2010 – I put together the compilation reel for them. Enjoy!
Well we got picked up for distribution on iTunes!! You’ll be able to download it straight to your iPhone/iPod/Computer in the summer! More on that story when I know a release date.
PHEW! What a crazy 6 months it’s been! You can see why I don’t update much hey?!
I am SO very excited to announce that I am providing AE duty on the fantastic new comedy feature Lloyd the Conqueror currently shooting in our very own Alberta.
It’s a fantastic fantasy comedy with geekery of epic proportions! A LARPing (live action role play) adventure starring Mike Smith of Trailer Park Boys, Harland Williams and the adorable Brian Posehn..!!
Big thanks to Mike Peterson for having me aboard..! It’s so great to get to chuckle through work every day!
Joni wasn’t lying when she said you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.
On September 27, 2010 we lost one of the greatest talents working in Hollywood today – Sally Menke.
Best known for her enduring partnership with legendary director Quentin Tarantino, Menke was an amazing editor. The fact that such a meticulous director as Tarantino chose to work with her and only her is a huge testament to her talent. Together they made truly outstanding movies whose distinctive style can be attributed almost as much to Menke’s devotion to the art of editing as they can be to Tarantino’s all seeing director’s eye.
Together they made his visions come to life and I’m sure he will struggle to find someone to fill her formidable shoes.
She will always be an inspiration to me and my thoughts are with her family, friends and those she worked with at this heartbreaking time.
Sally, know you were loved and admired by so very many and helped inspire this (and I’m sure many other) female editors to reach for the stars..
So not much to update with really.. just beavering away at the usual.
Really enjoying working more with Joe Media lately and really looking forward to the great insurge of work that’s due in early July!
I love working with new people and the variety of projects on the horizon is pretty exciting!
I’m really looking forward to the Alberta 3D Ready conference that’s happening this weekend in Banff. Hoping to network with some new people and get a handle on this whole third dimension everyone’s talking about. Space age!!
Outside of the day job (the now Ampia Award nominated!!!!) Spencer and I are really pushing to finish “1,042 Tuesday”. His next short. We’ve hit some fairly big bumps along the way but I am absolutely convinced it’s going to be an EVEN BETTER film because of it!
So until I get my official demo reel finished up here’s what you can see of mine around the interwebs!
One of the most fun projects I’ve worked on so far is the EPK stuff for Deadwalkers – the truly awesome Zombie Western short by up and coming director Spencer Estabrooks.
Here’s the Behind the Scenes video:
And here’s the super fun Thriller music video I threw together for the cast and crew screening!
I’ve posted it before but I’ll post it again.. I’m lucky enough to be working with Spencer on his next movie “1,042 Tuesday” due for submission this festival season. Here’s the trailer:
Not quite as recent (but obviously just as awesome) is a fun short I made with friends whilst working at Twofour Productions back in the UK – “3 of Hearts”:
And going right back to the beginning – here is one of my first shorts – a student film we made back at Stirling University in 2005! (has it been so long?!) – “The Occupier”
So that’s what I’ve got for ya for now.. hope you enjoyed it!
If you are interested in working with me on your next video project however big or small please don’t hesitate to contact me at sarabnicholls@gmail.com!
So I still haven’t done an official launch of this site! Dreadful!
Truth is I’ve been working pretty freaking hard and I just went on a reasonably epic Europe trip so I just haven’t had time to scrape together my demo reel.. ridiculous!
Took a LOT of video on my travels so I’m planning to upload a fun little edit soon.. Yeah the ever allusive “soon”
I know, I know. I will get there!
So right now I’m beavering away on some more weddings from home. Picking up a bit of work here and there with local production companies and thinking about my future move.. where should I go? Vancouver? Toronto? Back to the good ol’ UK?
The possibilities are endless and so, so exciting!!
